In the end, we only regret the chances that we didn't take.
I don’t know how to start, but it has been an honor to create a campaign for the Chance Eau Vive fragrance by Chanel. Sam and I had an amazing time in the process of making it come to life. Back in July, I was planning to do the campaign in Indonesia, but due to some unforeseen circumstances it couldn’t go ahead. I was quite sad at the time because I had a very good team (an experienced photographer and make-up artist) who have been working with famous Indonesian celebrities and designers. Unfortunately the location and the atmosphere wasn’t quite right, so I decided to postpone the Chanel shoot until I was back in Australia. After all, it’s Chanel – I wanted it to be perfect.
Sam and I love outdoor landscape photography, and our idea about this photo shoot came from the scent of the fragrance itself, which is really fresh and flowery. Spring was on the way, which means lots of flowers blooming, but my idea was to find a location with a sea of flowers to create a deep perspective to the shoot. This can be hard to find in Australia, but I found out about some canola plantations and did a little bit of research. After I found some gorgeous photos of canola fields in regional NSW, my heart fluttered and I starting dancing – this was the place!
The photo shoot went off without a hitch. I am so happy with the results, and I hope this campaign does justice to the name and reputation of Chanel.
