Checking in From Maldives

- All I need are palm trees and little bit of paradise -

Living in Sydney with a full-time job, it's always nice to escape to somewhere remote and secluded from the noise and business around you. Escaping to the Maldives is a great way to relax and celebrating our 5 year anniversary. No make-up, barefoot, sun, sweating and swimming? I am ready!

It's easy to forget to appreciate how beautiful the sunrises and the sunsets are on this beautiful planet, which is why during our stay, I was determine to make the most of it by waking up before the sun every morning.

We were staying in a beautiful resort called Veligandu Island Resort and Spa which was a 20 minute sea plane flight from Male, the capital city of the Maldives. Flying over the Maldives in a sea plane is an awesome idea because you get a magnificent perspective of the beauty of the various islands and atolls in this country. The resort was located on a tiny island, just 600m long and less than 200m wide! I'm not making this up - it is tiny and you can walk around the island in less than 10 mins!

The island is so beautifully maintained and reserved. We can't get over how easy it was to swim with reef sharks, stingrays and other cute fish literally right front of you. Snorkelling is a necessity during your stay, and if you have time, you should try some fishing too.

Dive in Blue

Thousands have lived without love, not one without water. - W H Auden -

You will be amazed by how blue the water and the sky in the Maldives are. In fact, I've never seen any as blue as these. I was also very aware that this small island is surrounded by water, our villa was above the water, and the blue ocean was right beneath us - this means that swim suits are a must. As a Muslim woman, it's always a challenge to find the right outfit to swim in, and the majority of Muslim designers focus on the 'burkini' design.

I am a little bit picky myself (not always a good quality to have!) and I could not find a swimsuit that felt right to me, so I decided to dig out my sketch book and design one for myself. My idea was to combine femininity with a striking colour and pattern. Voilaaaa, it's not too bad eh?

Mr Lo Sordo in Maldives

We don't create a fantasy world to escape reality. We create it to be able to stay. - Linda Barry -

I was so excited When Sam and I decided to go to Maldives to celebrate our 5th anniversary, and we started planning everything without a second thought. We have both wanted to visit since we can remember, and thought that this would be an appropriate holiday to celebrate half of decade of our relationship. Omg, there's a big difference between when you say "5 years" and "half a decade", how scary... lol

You can't beat the blue ocean and the blue sky of Maldives, but what you can do is find an outstanding blue outfit to match them. There is no one better than Michael Lo Sordo to do this - the cut of the skirt is just magnificent, and he knows what women want. I've been wanting to wear this skirt for a while, but was waiting for the right time and place... I found it.
